Leading law firm Meyerlustenberger Lachenal Ltd. (MLL) becomes the first law firm in Switzerland to provide automated legal documents to the public.
Zurich, December 12, 2017 – The legal industry is being transformed by technology and MLL is embracing its innovative potential. Whilst robots have not yet replaced lawyers, AI and LegalTech provide tools to automate work processes and change traditional service delivery models, increasing pressure on law firms to become more efficient and transparent. As an innovative and technology affine firm, MLL sees this as an opportunity and has launched an ambitious document automating project that will both streamline internal work flows and allow them to provide off-the-shelf legal documents in line with new client expectations. Lukas Bühlmann, Partner and MLL’s Head Digital, Data Privacy & E-Commerce, says “in a time where the ‘death of the law firm’ has been announced, MLL is taking concrete measures to lead the way in expanding its business model.”
40 legal templates available in three languages
Whilst many international firms work exclusively in English, Switzerland also has a very healthy SME sector with companies that tend to work in the local languages of the country. Being intent on speaking the language of their client, MLL is offering their legal templates in both English and German, with French in the pipeline. From standard corporate law documents and merger agreements to ICT contracts, MLL will provide around 40 templates by the end of the year, with more to follow.
PartnerVine and Exari as strategic partners
MLL uses Exari’s world leading Exari DocGenTM document automation software as a platform to map out their legal templates. The building bloc structure of the process and centralized content database provides a powerful tool to further increase internal efficiency and consistency. The templates are made available to the public via the PartnerVine platform, whose mission is to bring transparency and choice to in-house counsels. PartnerVine’s website has launched in Beta and provides Swiss law documents to the public, with MLL being the first law firm to join as a key content provider.
